Recommended hotels in Andorra

Finding the perfect hotels in Andorra that fit your budget and preferences can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the country.

To make things easier, we’ve put together this guide with our top hotel recommendations, the best areas to stay in, and tips for booking accommodation that suits your needs.

This way, you can skip the stress of finding accommodation and focus on planning an amazing trip to this beautiful destination!

Hotels in Andorra La Vella

Andorra La Vella is the capital of Andorra and the largest city in the country. Although being a relatively small city, it has everything you need: plenty of shops, hotels, restaurants, and even a cinema.

It’s well-connected to the ski slopes and other mountain villages by bus, very safe, and easy to explore on foot. So, there is no need for public transport or a car to get around.

If you’re looking for a centric hotel in Andorra La Vella, you’ll love these ones:

  • Hotel Metropolis: This 4-star hotel is located in Escaldes-Engordany, which used to be a separate village, but now it’s connected with Andorra La Vella. Its location is excellent (a 5-min walk to the main shopping street and Caldea Spa). The rooms are clean and modern, and the hotel offers clients private parking for their cars (which isn’t easy to find here in Andorra!).
  • Yomo Centric: If you love the city vibe, this hotel is a great choice. It’s right in Andorra’s main shopping street, buzzing with activity during the day. But don’t worry about the noise. Inside, it’s completely soundproof, so you’ll sleep like a baby. The hotel also has parking, a gym, and storage for your skis and bikes.

Another great option from the same hotel chain is Yomo Mola Park. Marc’s grandparents always stay there when they visit me, and they love it! The location is great (right in front of Caldea Spa), the rooms are spacious, and the staff is super friendly.
  • Andorra Park Hotel: This iconic hotel was the first 5-star one in Andorra, and it has all the facilities you need for a great stay: outdoor and indoor swimming pools, a sauna, a fitness centre, and padel tennis courts. It’s pricier than the ones mentioned before, but it’s a great option if you’re in for a treat or as a gift. Its chic vibes, along with the breathtaking views from the rooms, make it one of the coolest hotels in the city.

Hotels in La Massana

La Massana is a nice and quiet mountain village, mostly inhabited by locals. Here, you’ll find restaurants, bars, sports rental shops, and a large swimming pool ideal for hot summer days.

Plus, the village has direct access to Pal-Arinsal, the most family-friendly ski resort and one of the world’s best bike parks. So, staying here is a perfect option if you’re in Andorra for skiing (in winter) or downhill mountain biking (in summer).

If you’d like to stay in La Massana, we recommend these hotels:

  • Rutllan & Spa: This charming hotel is a traditional mountain chalet with a beautiful garden and a heated outdoor pool. The interiors are all made of wood, so it’s super cosy. It’s located opposite the cable car that links the village with Pal Ski Resort.
  • B&B La Lluna: Franz, the owner, pours all his heart into this lovely B&B. It has five rooms, including a quadruple one and a family suite one that fits up to four people. Breakfast is included with the price, as well as parking on-site and a sunny patio to enjoy breakfast outside (when it’s not snowing!). The location is also great, just a 5-min walk to the cable car that takes you to Pal.
  • Abba Xalet Suites: This beautiful hotel is located on the outskirts of La Massana in a little village called Sispony. It has a classic and chic touch, but the facilities are modern and include a gym, a sauna, and an outdoor pool. If you’re planning on staying here, it’s better if you have your car.

Hotels in Arinsal

This is our favourite village in Andorra! Although being small, it’s very lively. It has many great restaurants, an Irish pub, several bars, a couple of brunch places, a bowling alley, and a spa! Oh, and it also has direct access to the slopes via a cable car.

In summer, it’s also a great location as it’s just a 5-minute walk from the Comapedrosa Natural Park. This park is home to Andorra’s highest peak, Comapedrosa, and many other beautiful hiking routes.

Here are four hotels we recommend in Arinsal:

  • Ushuaia: This is a nice mountain hotel right at the foot of the ski slopes and at the entrance of the Comapedrosa Natural Park. So, it’s a great option for skiing or hiking. To go to the centre of Arinsal, it’s a 10-min walk.
  • Xalet Verdú: Excellent value for money. This 3-star hotel features classic décor, it has free parking, and it’s in a very quiet location. Plus, the staff is super friendly (I met them when I was working as a travel agent). If you’re coming in summer, it has a beautiful garden and a heated outdoor pool.
  • Hotel Micolau: Located in the heart of Arinsal, right by the cable car to the ski resort. While it’s small and simple, the rooms are clean and comfortable. Plus, the breakfast is great, and the hotel’s Mexican restaurant (California Grill) is to die for!
  • NH Collection Andorra Palomé: This hotel isn’t exactly in Arinsal but in Erts (though both villages are connected). Stay here if you’re looking for modern and elegant rooms, beautiful views, and delicious food (have dinner in its restaurant Émo if you can!).

Hotels in Ordino

Ordino is a cute mountain village that has grown quite a lot in the past few years. It’s not as lively as Arinsal, but still has some nice restaurants and bars. Plus, the historic centre is beautiful.

You won’t find many hotels in the village of Ordino, but there are plenty of them in the little mountain villages on the road that links Ordino with the ski resort of Ordino-Arcalís. Choose to stay in one of those if you’re looking for calm and peacefulness, want to hike in Sorteny Natural Park or ski in Ordino-Arcalís.

Here is our selection of hotels in the area:

  • Hotel Santa Bàrbara De La Vall D’Ordino: This rustic hotel is right in the heart of Ordino. It feels homey, with traditional décor. The rooms are clean and comfy, and they have really nice views of Ordino’s historic centre.
  • Hotel & Spa Xalet Bringue: Located in the little village of El Serrat, this 4-star hotel has incredible views, a spa (the perfect après-ski!), and an incredible breakfast. Plus, it’s super close to Sorteny Natural Park (4-min drive) and Ordino-Arcalís ski resort (6-min drive).
  • Hotel & Spa Niunit: This one is also located in El Serrat. Besides having a sauna, a spa, and spacious rooms, the true highlight of this hotel is its restaurant. It’s a great option if you’re in the area for hiking or skiing.

Hotels in Encamp

Encamp is the third largest town in Andorra, although it’s more like a big village. It has plenty of restaurants, bars, and sports rental shops. It also has direct access to Grandvalira Ski Resort via a cable car. It’s the first village with access to the ski resort if you’re coming from Spain. Moreover, it’s close to Andorra La Vella (only 7 km away).

Here are three hotels to stay in Encamp:

  • Hotel Guillem: Located in the middle of the village, this 4-star hotel feels like staying home. The décor is rustic and traditional, and the staff is super friendly. If you’re here for skiing, the hotel is a 12-min walk from the cable car to the slopes.
  • Hotel Arbre De Neu: This small 3-star hotel is located right next to the cable car that goes to the slopes, so it’s a great option if you’re here for skiing. Plus, there is a bus stop just in front of the hotel to go to Andorra La Vella. Quality price is fantastic.
  • Les Pardines 1819: If you’re looking for something fancier, this boutique hotel is a great option. The location (8-min drive from Encamp) up in the mountains is incredible, and there are many hiking routes that start straight from the hotel. Plus, it has a wonderful spa and a top restaurant, and it’s surrounded by a huge garden.

Hotels in Canillo

Canillo is a beautiful mountain village that’s very lively during the day and quiet at night. It has a huge Casa Ametller (our favourite supermarket, with delicious local products!), and even an ice rink and a climbing gym!

The hotels here are ideal for you if you want to enjoy more of a village vibe than a city one yet still have direct access to the slopes and nice restaurant options around.

Here is our selection of hotels in Canillo:

  • Hotel Roc Meler: Located on a mountain road overlooking the village of Canillo, this 4-star hotel stands out for its buffet food, outstanding service, and comfortable rooms. Plus, it has an amazing spa and an Irish bar with live music at the weekends.
  • Hotel L’Ermita B&B: This charming and cosy hotel is located in a tiny village between Encamp and Canillo (a 5-min drive from each). It’s a traditional Andorran house made of stone and wood and decorated with beautiful red flowers in summer. Breakfast is excellent, views from the room are incredible, and the couple who runs it are super kind and helpful.

Hotels in El Tarter

El Tarter is a village along the road connecting Andorra and France, just past Canillo. It’s known for its direct access to the ski slopes and lively après-ski parties in winter. The rest of the year, however, it’s a peaceful and quiet spot.

It’s also an excellent base if you’re planning to visit Vall d’Incles or Vall de Ransol, whether for hiking in the summer or snowshoeing in the winter.

If you’d like to stay in El Tarter, we recommend these hotels:

  • Nordic Hotel: This charming 4-star hotel is located right next to Grandvalira’s ski slopes. The rooms offer breathtaking views of the slopes (snow-covered in winter and lush green in summer), and the food served is delicious. After a day of outdoor adventures, you can unwind in the swimming pool during summer or warm up in the spa during winter.
  • Hotel del Tarter: This is a cheaper option than Nordic Hotel, but it’s still right next to the slopes. The building is beautiful, the staff is outstanding, and the food is great. Very good value for money.

Hotels in Soldeu

Soldeu is home to some of Andorra’s most luxurious hotels and spas, so it’s the perfect base if you want to combine adventure with relaxation. It’s a little mountain village famous mainly for its direct access to the Grandvalira ski resort.

It’s also a great place to stay in summer as there are plenty of hiking and biking trails nearby.

Here are four hotels we recommend in Soldeu:

  • L’Ovella Negra Mountain Lodge: The highlight of this hotel is its unbeatable location. It’s not right in Soldeu but at the end of one of Andorra’s most beautiful valleys: Vall d’Incles. From here, you can set off directly on hikes or snowshoeing adventures to lakes and peaks. After a day outdoors, you can return to enjoy a delicious meal, relax by the fireplace, or soak in the incredible views from your room. With just four rooms (two doubles and two quadruples), this place is perfect if you’re looking for an intimate escape surrounded by nature.
  • Sport Hotel Hermitage & Spa: This is one of the most luxurious hotels in Andorra. We’ve been to its spa many times, and it’s just superb. Everything about the hotel is excellent, from the rustic decoration and the helpful staff to the spacious rooms and breathtaking views of Grandvalira slopes. Plus, the hotel is home to two of Andorra’s six Michelin-starred restaurants: Ibaya and Koy Hermitage.
  • Hotel Naudí Boutique: This is one of the few adults-only boutique hotels in Andorra. Run by the Naudí family for over 60 years (now in its third generation), it’s got that personal touch that makes you feel at home. The views are stunning, the rooms are comfy, and it’s super close to the Grandvalira ski slopes. This place is perfect if you’re a couple or solo traveller looking for a peaceful mountain escape.
  • Hotel Soldeu Maistre: Right by the Grandvalira ski slopes, this rustic-style hotel has cosy rooms, free on-site parking, and typical Andorran dishes at its restaurant. Also, it’s located next to Soldeu’s historical centre, where you’ll find some nice restaurants. All in all, it’s good value for money.

Hotels in El Pas de la Casa

Pas de la Casa is the most remote location we’ve mentioned and the furthest from Andorra La Vella. It’s a small town right on the border with France and a popular spot for French skiers and shoppers. The town is known for its lively atmosphere, duty-free shopping, and direct access to the slopes.

We find it lacks the charm of other mountain villages like Ordino or Arinsal. But that said, it’s an excellent choice if skiing is your main focus, with direct access to some of the best slopes in the country and plenty of après-ski options.

Here is our selection of hotels in El Pas de la Casa:

  • Hotel Meta: This is a nice, family-run hotel. It’s just a short walk from the ski slopes, so it’s an ideal spot for your skiing holiday. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the staff go out of their way to assist, and it has on-site ski storage.
  • Petit Hotel: Translated as “Small Hotel”, this charming, small hotel has well-maintained rooms (each with a private balcony) and offers a great continental breakfast to start the day. It’s located in the centre of the town, within a few walking minutes from Grandvalira’s slopes.

Also, they’re surrounded by restaurants and bars. The apartments are spacious, super clean, and well-equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Plus, the staff is super helpful and can arrange ski passes or activities for you.
  • Apartaments La Neu: This is one of the cutest places we’ve ever been! Everything is so well-decorated, with a rustic and cosy vibe that makes you feel at home. These apartments are located on the outskirts of the little village of Llorts, close to the ski resort Ordino-Arcalís. Plus, they are in front of one of Andorra’s most famous walks, La Ruta del Ferro, and close to Sorteny Natural Park (perfect for hiking or snowshoeing). Make sure to try out the restaurant; it’s amazing!
  • Cal Batlle: This boutique-style countryside house is perfect if you’re coming with a group and want your own space. It’s set in a beautifully restored 16th-century building, but don’t worry! You’ll find all the modern comforts you need. The owners are super friendly, and the location (La Cortinada) is beautiful and peaceful. It’s just a short drive to the Ordino-Arcalís ski resort, so it’s perfect for skiing in winter or hiking in the summer.
  • Pierre & Vacances Aparthotel La Tulipa: In the tiny village of Arans, you’ll find this aparthotel run by a lovely Dutch couple. The apartments are functional and spacious, offering great value for money. It’s a 20-min drive to both Ordino-Arcalís and Arinsal ski resorts, so it’s a perfect base for skiing (and hiking in summer too!). Plus, there’s a bus stop right outside, making it easy to explore other parts of Andorra.

Things to know about hotels in Andorra

💶 Price range

In Andorra, hotel prices can vary a lot depending on the season. During peak ski months (December to February), expect to pay between 90 and 200€ per night for a mid-range hotel. Prices drop significantly in the off-season.

❄️ Ski season

If you’re planning to visit during ski season or public holidays (like Christmas or Easter), book your accommodation well in advance. Andorra gets busy, and the best hotels fill up quickly.

Keep in mind that Andorra adds a tourist tax of around 2€ per person per night, which isn’t always included in the booking price. Double-check this before confirming your reservation.

FAQ about hotels in Andorra

🗺️ Where should I stay in Andorra?

The hotels you choose to stay in Andorra depend on your trip goals!

If you’re coming for skiing, then villages like Soldeu, El Tarter, and Arinsal are perfect as they’re close to the slopes. If you’re here for shopping, dining, or hot springs, Andorra La Vella and Escaldes-Engordany are the most convenient areas. And if you’re into hiking, places near Comapedrosa Natural Park, Vall d’Incles, or Vall del Madriu are great. For downhill biking, La Massana is your place, as it has direct access to Pal Bike Park.

🔎 What should I look for when booking hotels in Andorra?

Make sure the hotel has parking (if you’re coming by car). It’s not easy to find parking in Andorra La Vella and some mountain villages, like Canillo and La Massana, so you’ll save time and sanity if the hotel has private parking.

Also, check its proximity to the activities you’re planning. And if you’re here for skiing, definitely look for hotels with ski storage.

Another important thing is reading the reviews. Well, it’s not important, but crucial! Photos can look nice, and location can seem good, but what other travellers say is key to knowing if you should keep looking at a hotel or discard it right away.

🌟 I’ve found a budget hotel in Andorra. Is it a good idea?

It really depends. There are hostels and budget hotels in Andorra, like the ones we’ve mentioned before, that are great. However, some others can lack basic comforts. If you’re considering a budget option, be sure to read recent reviews to ensure it meets your expectations.
